YRYC Holds Annual Meeting

Approximately 25 members attended this club-sponsored dinner in the Activities room at YRYH. Lin Gendell prepared a fabulous Italian themed dinner. A great antipasto bar was set up followed by a sausage and peppers over pasta entree’. Tiramisu was a tasty dessert.

Business matters were discussed after dinner:

Membership and Treasury: The club signed up 4 new members this past year. It was mentioned that everyone should encourage boating neighbors to join up. The get a free Burgee! The treasury is healthy. The year is ending up with a profit after all expenses are paid. The dues will remain the same: $180 if paid before the end of the year and $200 after the new year so send in your dues to YRYC PO Box 996, Gloucester Point, VA 23062.

ELECTIONS: the following are the Board Members voted in for 2017:

  • Commodore: Jim Brunson
  • Rear Commodore: vacant
  • Treasurer: Laura Brunson
  • Race Captain: Mike Mastracci
  • Cruise Captain: GT Alexander
  • Secretary: Claire Maher
  • Past Commodore: Joran Gendell
  • Membership Captain: vacant
  • Webmaster: Anne Racel

There was discussion about how the REar Commodore spot is a difficult one to fill. Lin has done a fantastic job but we want to figure otu ways to make it easier. Please consider volunteering for the position. It could be handled as more of a coordinator role where others help out for the various meeting/events. Also, one culd volunteer to coordinate a singe event. Again, not necessarily doing all the work but having others assist. Claire Maher has volunteered to manage the Blessing of the Fleet.

Another suggestion was an Event Coordinator could use an electronic sign-up, breaking it down into more manageable sections, allowing individual members to sign up for specific parts of the event.

And updated membership roster will be published early next year in electronic format.

The party ended around 9:30.

The next event is the Racing Awards Dinner, Saturday, November 19th, 6 p.m., in the Activities Room at YRYC. Please RSVP now to Joran Gendell or Lin Gendell.

The Christmas Part is Saturday, Dec. 3rd, 6 pm, at the oyster Company restaurant at YRYH. Come out and enjoy the Yorktown Lighted Boat Parade go by.
