Best Harborfest Ever!
After a two year hiatus, Harborfest was once again live and in person for the weekend of June 10-12! YRYC had a fleet of 14 boats ready to make the trip and participate this year.
Many of the sailboats left Thursday and and enjoyed a most pleasant sail down to Old Point Comfort where we anchored out and enjoyed an evening out in Pheobus. Friday morning, everyone met at the rally point in the Elizabeth River where we were to escort the Schooner Virginia in the Parade of Sails into downtown Norfolk.
After the parade, 8 of us headed off to Freemason Harbor Basin for the weekend and to Tidewater Marina. It was a beautiful weekend with mild temperatures to enjoy all the music, food, and fellowship Harborfest had to offer. Members GT and Bill G even took 1st and 2nd place respectively in the annual Sunday morning Bloody Mary contest!
The Sunday morning sail home started off rather uneventful, but a couple of small pop-up storms merged into one big storm, catching a few us. But everyone, thankfully, made it back to home port safely.
Enjoy some photos of our trip to Norfolk!
