Update on Club Activities under COVID-19
In guidance with the statewide Stay at Home Order, effective March 30 – June 10, issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as the CDC’s guidelines to cancel or postpone large events in the near future, the YRYC Board of Directors announces the following changes to our calendar of events.
- Racing Events: There will be no official Spring Racing Series. We will plan to resume with the Summer Racing series on Wednesday, June 10. Please watch for announcements from Race Captain Joran for further information
- Cruising Events: The following events will be rescheduled to a later date:
- Memorial Day Raft-Up is now tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 20, the Summer Solstice and first official day of summer. More details will be forthcoming from Cruise Captain Duane.
- Norfolk’s Harborfest has been officially cancelled by the organizer.
- Social Events:
- Blessing of the Fleet: Originally scheduled for Saturday, May 9, the Board is looking to move this event to 4th of July weekend, where this fun event can be followed by a pool party. More information will be forthcoming as arrangements are finalized.
- Commodore’s Cocktail Parties: Originally scheduled to begin Friday, April 24, and an important part of our fellowship, we are going to “go virtual” for the interim period while we are sequestered at home. Members will be sent a link via email to join the virtual cocktail party to drop in any Friday they may like.
