What a Wonderful Day for a Blessing
After a rainy couple of days, Saturday, April 29th, turned out to a be surprisingly beautiful day for the annual Blessing of the Fleet and Sock Burning!
We had so many smiling faces show up bright and early on a Saturday morning for coffee and banana bread. Once assembled, we had 7 sailboats that participated in the boatnparade and 18 boats were blessed in absentia. Overall, we had 54 folks join the day’s fun and festivities.
This year’s lunch were sub sandwiches from Sal’s Sicilian Pizza & Restaurant.
To say welcome to Spring, we also held the traditional burning of the socks! Jeff provided us with a poem, and yes, we burned a number of socks. Some even looked new! Now it’s time for flip flops!
We also got to celebrate a milestone birthday with club member Nancy!
A special thanks to those that helped set up. Additional thanks goes out to those who stayed behind to clean up, as well as the Power Squadron who were on hand to perform vessel safety inspections on club members.
Enjoy some photos from the day!
